Stimulus on My Mind

I have learned a lot over the last few days. For example, I learned how to spell stimulus. It's U-L-U-S.
What I still don't know is if this stimulus package is the right way to go about helping our economy.
And if it's not the best way is it better than any other way?
And if there is another, better way, do we have time to find it before our economy goes into the "tailspin" our new president is predicting.
These are a lot of things that I don't know.
At this point I am just praying that those in power in our government are making good choices that will actually make a positive difference.
Every week I talk to another friend who is getting laid off.
My teenager can't get a job because no one is hiring. And the jobs that are available are going to adults who got laid off from their other jobs. I guess I am scared. This could go really badly.
So everyone please pray for our lawmakers.
Pray for our country.
Pray that the plans that are being made will make a positive difference.
Pray for the people who don't have jobs. I know that harder times are ahead, but I also know that God will take care of his children.

I agree. I did not vote for Obama and this is what I expected of him including almost everything he has and is doing.
Remember this land is dedicated to the righteous. Pray for them as you pray for our country. The righteous include most of the people in our country, but the other side is more vocal and getting their way too often.
I expect the Lord to straighten things out but I do not know how soon.
Perhaps these things will hasten Him.
Also pray for guidance in what you need to do now to prepare for later. We pray for each of you.
Love, DAD

I visited about this with my favorite urologist. He said that if this bill passes he will have to quit taking pediatric patients, because those covered under the socialized medical provisions for children will have the reimbursement amounts dictated by the bill, and they will not cover his office expenses, let alone any money for him, so he will have to send all his pediatric patients to a nearby metro center where they will be taken care of by PA's instead of Drs. My discussion with him about the effects of this bill, and its likely repercussions into adult care left me very discouraged. What about that results in a stimulus? Nancy

Obama "stimulus" includes federal control of doctor decisions
posted by Donny Ferguson on Feb 10, 2009
Betsy McCaughey of Bloomberg reports on a little-known provision in Obama's $1.1 trillion package of welfare transfers and expanded government, a new federal bureaucracy in Washington, D.C. that tracks your health information and can order your doctor to stop treating you:

The bill’s health rules will affect "every individual in the United States" (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and "guide" your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, "Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis." According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and "learn to operate less like solo practitioners."...

...The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye

I got this off the Libertarian party blog.--Liz

I voted for Obama and I am very happy about the stimulus package. First it means I will have a job next year. Second every day I work with families and have in my family people that aren't insured. I would rather my children and others without insurance now have insurance so that they can be have some medical care, even if it isn't by a Dr. I also pray for him and for my country.
