I said something yesterday about not needing to change what you are doing as a parent if what you are doing is working.
Carrie commented that when you learn something new you should look at it, decide what you can use and catalogue the rest for later necessity.
I think she is right and there are things I can learn from Dr. Post, but I should keep doing what is working.
How do I know if what I am doing is working?
Well, for example, after the first term at school J brought home a report card with straight Fs. Yesterday (only 1 term later), he brought home a certificate and a medal for making the Honor Roll. (I know it's legitimate because I picked him up at school and his teacher actually handed me the certificate).
I am so proud of him.
And to be honest, I'm proud of myself too.

Congratulations! It is one of the best feelings to bring home a good report card when your last one was not good. He deserves a major positive consequence.
If that isn't proof that you're doing a good job, I don't know what is. That is the thing I miss about doing that kind of work, the job satisfaction is off the charts.
Tell J good job, we are proud of the effort that took.
